Recorded 11/01/2019 - All Saints Day - at the lab down by the tracks, West Louisville.

There is a haunted aspect of Black Kaspar that tends to pop up now and again in the sound . . . winter and darkness, the specters of Halloween, the depths of long night. If the sound does not exactly live there, it visits often enough.

If indeed All Saints is the institutional celebration of the transcendent, the church's Apolloinian ideal, it is tethered to the earth by the twin anchors of Hallows Eve and All Souls . . . the restless ghosts who are the air we swim through, the faceless proletarian spirits who are the salt and dirt of the earth we live upon. This is a work not of the heavens, but of the energized and haunted earth.
